In 2016, xQc started his career as an Overwatch player. Overwatch (2016) is a team-based multiplayer first-person video game developed and published by Blizzard Entertainment. In Montreal-based semi-professional esports organization DatZit Gaming, xQc plays the role of “main tank”. On August 13, 2016, DatZit Gaming won the Dreamhack Montreal 2016 Overwatch tournament.
In October 2016, he moved to another esports organization called Denial eSports, where he continued to serve as the “main tank”. After Denial eSports disbanded, xQc and the rest of his teammates started playing under the name “YIKES!” Later, the team name “YIKES!” was renamed “Arc 6” after Blizzard Entertainment suggested it was not for sale. - In December 2017, he was suspended for seven days by Blizzard for intentionally losing a game in Competitive Overwatch. Subsequently, xQc uploaded a YouTube video titled “Pause: My Apology” on its channel, publicly apologizing for its actions.
- xQc was suspended for 15 days on August 11, 2018 for violating the Abusive Chat Policy. He was reported by teammates several times. He was allowed to play despite the official Overwatch World Cup suspension. Later, in the same year, xQc was permanently banned from League of Legends for being highly inflammatory and offensive.
- In 2017, Lengyel was suspended for several games by the Overwatch League and fined $2,000. Apparently, Lengyel violated the Overwatch League Code of Conduct by making some homophobic comments about rival Austin “Muma” Wilmot. He later apologized for the comments, writing,
I didn’t mean to say what I said on the livestream, I didn’t calculate the whole thing before…hope I can turn it into something good, sorry. “
- On July 31, 2019, xQc was banned for 72 hours for streaming pornography on Twitch. Although, the video is not exactly pornographic. However, it’s a popular YouTube video called “Safe Job Porn.” The video features erotic scenes, projected in an innocent-looking way. xQc claims it was just an act of humor.
- In February 2020, xQc was banned from Twitch for 3 days for showing nudity while playing Connect Four. While streaming on Twitch, an AI reportedly appeared on screen as a fully nude woman.
- On June 12, 2020, xQc was banned from Twitch for a day for explicit content, a video of two gorillas having sex. xQc has since posted a tweet claiming it was an accident.
