Vanessa Hau Mdee, also known as Vee Money, is a Tanzanian recording artist, songwriter, youth activist, TV and radio host. Mdee is widely known as Tanzania’s first MTV VJ. She later rose to fame as a radio and TV host, hosting Epic Bongo Star Search and Dume CHallenge for ITV Tanzania, before signing with B’Hits Music Group in late 2012. After joining the B’Hits Music Group, Mdee collaborated with Tanzanian rapper AY on the record ”Money” and Bongo Flava artist Ommy Dimpoz on the album Me and You, which was later selected as one of the 2013 Kilimanjaro Music Awards. Song of the Year. She gained more traction with the release of her first solo single “Closer”, which was downloaded more than 30,000 times in its first week, a feat not seen by other Tanzanian artists. “Closer” stayed on the charts for over 13 weeks.
