Vikas Dubey was born on Saturday 26 December 1964 (55; at the time of death) in the village of Bikru in the Chaubepur neighbourhood of Kanpur. He was prone to criminal activity at an early age. As a teenager, he formed his own gang and began to engage in criminal activities such as snatching, robbery, and even murder. Soon Vikas became one of the most notorious criminals in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh.

On July 3, 2020, Vikas Dubey and his men killed 8 police officers including a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) in a midnight operation in Bikru village ), three deputy inspectors and four police officers.
