Ted Bundy is an American serial killer who kidnapped, raped and murdered various young women and girls in the 1970s and earlier. After more than a decade of denials, he disclosed information to 30 homicides he committed in seven states between 1974 and 1978 before he was executed in 1989. The true number of victims is unknown and may be higher. Bundy was considered handsome and hypnotic, and he used these traits to win the trust of his victims and society. He would typically approach victims in public, disguising injuries or disabilities, or posing as an authority figure, then knocking them out before taking them to remote locations to rape and kill them. He would sometimes revisit his secondary crime scenes, grooming and pornographically decomposing corpses until decomposed and wiped out by wildlife, making any further interaction impossible. He beheaded at least 12 victims and kept some of the severed heads in his apartment as souvenirs. On several occasions he broke into homes at night and beat his victims with a stick while they slept. Bundy was jailed for the first time in 1975, when he was being held in Utah for aggravated kidnapping and attempted crime. He then became a suspect in unsolved murders in several states. Facing murder charges in Colorado, he orchestrated two dramatic escapes and carried out further attacks in Florida, including three murders, before finally being re-arrested in 1978. For the Florida homicide, he was sentenced to three death sentences in two separate trials. Bundy was executed by electric chair on January 24, 1989, at the Florida State Prison in Lyford, Florida. Biographer Ann Ruhl, who worked with Bundy, described him as “a ruthless sociopath who took pleasure in the suffering of another and his control. Having surpassed his victims until death, Even after that.” He once called himself “the coldest son of a bitch you’ll ever meet.” A member of his last defense team, attorney Polly Nelson, wrote that he was “the true definition of ruthless evil.”

Ted Bundy Mom and Dad
Ted was born Eleanor Louise Cowell (Louise Bundy), whose father left after Eleanor found out she was pregnant. In 1946, faced with limited options, she gave birth to him in a “maternal mother” facility and began a hopeless game: As Ted grew up, she told him that her parents were his, and she is his sister. It wasn’t until 1974 that he realized that his mother had lied to him for so many years. He grew into a handsome, educated and intelligent man who seemed adaptable and amiable. Bundy even volunteered on a crisis phone line (where he met famed author Ann Ruhr, who also volunteered) and maintained a stable relationship with Diane Edwards (aka Stephanie Brooks). relationship, this girlfriend would fuel his frantic rage after she left him.
In 1951, Louise married Johnny Bundy. Although Ted took his name, he reportedly didn’t have much respect for his stepfather, whom he resented for being poorly educated and working class. Johnny and Louise have several children. Louise worked as a secretary at the University of Puget Sound and was still married to Johnny in the 1970s when Ted was accused of a crime. She refused to believe the allegations for years, although she changed her stance after his confession.
Ted Bundy Education
Bundy graduated from the University of Washington in 1972 with a degree in psychology. He has been accepted to law school in Utah, although he will never be able to earn a degree. While studying at the University of Washington, Bundy fell in love with a rich, beautiful young woman from California. She has everything he wants: money, class and influence. He was frustrated with their breakup. Many of Bundy’s later victims resembled his college girlfriend, a beautiful student with long black hair. By the mid-1970s, Bundy had transformed himself, becoming more confident and active in social and political affairs. After his campaign, he even received a letter of recommendation from Washington’s Republican governor.
On January 31, 1974, while Ted was studying psychology at the University of Washington, a beautiful female student suddenly disappeared. More disappearances followed in the months and years that followed. Ted’s victims are usually young attractive women with dark hair parted in the middle. His modus operandi was to approach his potential victims pretending to be injured (for example, wearing an arm sling or cast) and asking them to help him carry books or packages. He took them to a secluded place, and when they were alone, he hit their heads with a crowbar, stuffed their bodies into his car, strangled them while they were unconscious, and raped the bodies ( necrophilia). He then left the naked bodies in wooded areas, mostly Taylor Hill, Washington, where many of his victims were found.

He proposed, which she accepted before a judge, to legalize the marriage in Florida. The couple met six years ago when they both worked in emergency services in Olympia, Washington.

Ted Bundy girlfriend
In 1969, Bundy began a six-year relationship with Elizabeth Kloepfer, whom he met at a Seattle bar. Kloepfer is a single mother to a young daughter and struggles with alcoholism. Bundy looked after her and she said he was “warm and loving”. By 1974, Klopfer began to suspect Bundy’s guilt. When she asks him about strange behavior, like having a cleaver on his desk, he deflects her concerns with his charm.
Klopfer secretly goes to the police on suspicion of Bundy’s involvement in a famous local murder, but they don’t believe he is the murderer. The two remained together, although they became estranged when Bundy moved to Olympia the following year. In 1975, Klopfer made another police report, this time with evidence to help them apprehend the serial killer. Bundy admitted to Klopfer over the phone from his cell that he had tried to kill her, but he couldn’t resist the urge when he felt “his disease build up in him,” she later wrote. She cut ties with Bundy forever and wrote a book about her experience.

Ted Bundy acknowledged 36 killings of young women in several states in the 1970s, but experts believe the final number could be closer to 100 or more. The exact number of women Bundy killed will never be known. His killings generally followed a horrific pattern: He routinely raped his victims and then beat them to death. While there is some controversy as to when Bundy began killing people, most sources say he began his murderous atrocities around 1974. Around this time, many women in the Seattle area and nearby Oregon went missing. About some victims who ended up being…
