When asked about Taflin’s views on Indian political news, she said in an interview,
All political journalists around the world are in danger of being seduced by the system. It’s easy. I have a very strong opinion on this. I truly believe that journalists should never occupy the seat of the Rajya Sabha. I really don’t think journalists deserve the Padma Award. Once you do, you should give up journalism and go into politics. It doesn’t hurt. “

Taflin and Tasir then moved to Dubai to keep news from both families and traveled to London in the summer, where Taflin gave birth to their son, Aatish. The pair were unmarried and separated when Atish was 2 years old, before his Indian mother brought him back and raised him in her ancestral home in Delhi. dispute
- Taflin caused a lot of controversy in the 1980s for her “scandalous” affair with Pakistani politician and businessman Salman Tasir, as well as for having a child out of wedlock. Their relationship made headlines in nearly every major publication until the couple ended painfully. Even nearly four years after the extramarital affair, the journalist and her twin sons are regularly criticized and lambasted on social media.
- In October 2018, Tavleen was criticized by Indian Twitterati, including celebrities, for his rhetoric against the #MeToo Indian movement and his public admission of not supporting the movement. Apparently, controversy arose when Tavleen defended #MeToo accused journalist MJ Akbar. Days after the Twitter spat, Singer wrote her views in a post and tried to explain herself in an open letter to journalist Barkha Dutt. Days later, many pro-women’s rights platforms lashed out at Taflin in open letters.
- Two months after the #MeToo criticism, Singer found himself in another controversy after “joking” about journalist Faye D’souza’s clothes during a #MeToo debate on the News Channel and saying she “dressed like a man.” Her insensitive comments were unpopular with Dutt and other Twitter users, and Singh was once again embroiled in a Twitter war.

The decision shocked the mother-son duo, with the mother-protecting mother jumping up to protect her son. Taflin, who has publicly supported the government in the past, called the Indian government’s decision “evil” on Twitter. In an article she wrote for an English-language publication, Taflin called on the Modi-led government and claimed her son’s citizenship was revoked as India’s home minister was named by Atish Tasir for The Times Offended by magazine article on Narendra Modi. Singh was quickly attacked by right-wing social media users.
- The journalist came out to defend her son again in 2020, when Aatish Taseer was heavily criticized on Twitter for his derogatory remarks about India’s Home Minister Amit Shah. Taseer mocked Shah when news broke that he had tested positive for COVID-19. Soon Tavleen was under fire for her upbringing, while Aatish was to blame for his dual parents and their Pakistani ties.
