In 2019, she contested the 2019 Harajana Assembly Election in Adampur constituency. However, she lost to Congress leader Kuldeep Bishnoi by 29,471 votes. Phogat has worked for the BJP in the tribal areas of Jharkhand and Madhya Pradesh. She was later appointed to head the BJP’s scheduled tribal wing in Haryana, New Delhi and Chandigarh.
