Sona Mohapatra completed her studies at Kendra Vidhyalaya in Bhubaneswar. She then enrolled at Bhubaneswar College of Engineering and Technology, completed a B. Tech in Instrumentation and Electronic Engineering, and pursued an MBA in Marketing at the Centre for Symbiosis Management and Human Resource Development, Pune. Sona is a trained Indian classical musician.
Sona Mohapatra started her career as a brand administrator at Marico, an Indian consumer goods and services company, managing brands such as Mediker and Parachute. Mohapatra quit her job and started looking for opportunities to make a living in the Indian music industry. Eventually, she started her singing career, singing jingle for commercials.
