Simranjit Kaur was born on Monday 10 July 1995 (Age 26; as of 2021) in the village of Chakar, Ludhiana, Punjab. Her zodiac sign is Cancer. When Simranjit was a teenager, her sister made boxing a career choice. Seeing her eldest daughter excel in the sport, Simranjit’s mother encouraged her to pursue boxing as a career option. When Simranjit was 15, she joined the Sher-E-Punjab Sports Academy in Chakar Village to learn the basics of boxing.
As of 2020, Simranjit is pursuing an undergraduate degree (second year) at Chandigarh University.

Simranjit is the daughter of Kamal Jeet Singh and Rajpal Kaur. Her father used to work in a grocery store in the village of Chakar. He died of a heart attack in 2018. She has an older sister named Sonia Kaur (employed by BSF) and two younger brothers named Golu Batth and Akash Deep Singh Batth.

Simranjit started her boxing career in 2010. Her breakthrough came in 2011, when she won a bronze medal at the 6th Junior Women’s National Boxing Championships in Patiala. Next, she won a bronze medal at the 4th Inter-District Women’s National Boxing Championships (2012) in Visakhapatnam.
In the same year, she participated in the 8th National Youth Women’s Boxing Championships in Patiala and won a silver medal. In 2013, she went on to represent India at the 60kg World Junior Championships and won a bronze medal.
She then won a bronze medal at the 16th Senior (Elite) Women’s National Boxing Championships in Gegan, Simpang, Guwahati. In 2017, Kaur won two bronze medals at the senior international championships in Kazakhstan.
In 2018, she won her first career international gold medal in the 64kg category at the Ahmet Comert International Boxing Championships in Istanbul, Turkey.
That same year, she competed in the AIBA Women’s World Boxing Championships in New Delhi as part of the 10-man Indian team, where she won a bronze medal in the light welterweight division. The team was led by Mary Colm. In 2019, she won a gold medal at the 23rd President’s International Boxing Championships in Labuan Baju, Indonesia.
Simranjit qualified for the Tokyo 2020 Olympics after winning silver in the women’s lightweight (57-60kg) category at the Asian Boxing Olympic Qualifiers in Amman, Jordan.
