Shivya Nath was born in 1988 (Age 32; same as 2020) in Dehradun, Uttarakhand. She studies at St Joseph’s High School in Dehradun. She holds a BA (Cum Laude) in Economics and Marketing from Singapore Management University.

After graduating, Shivya Nath started working as a social media strategist at the Singapore Tourism Board. There, she was introduced to social networks and started following travel bloggers around the globe. She entered an AirAsia Facebook contest and won two round-trip tickets to Paris. She took two months off and spent her first month. Traveled in Europe and spent the rest of the time volunteering to develop responsible tourism alternatives in Spiti, a cold mountain desert in the northern Himalayas of India.

After the sabbatical, she decided to quit her job in 2011 because she believed that the past two months had made her life more fulfilling than ever. After quitting her job, she resumed her blog “Meteor” and started posting her travel stories on it.

After quitting her job, she spent the first six months with her savings before starting to work as a freelance writer. She has freelanced for BBC Travel, Lonely Planet India, National Geographic Traveler India, Conde Nast Traveler India, The Huffington Post, The Times of India, The Hindu, Hindustan Times and CNNGo. She is also a social media consultant. In 2012, she started her own travel and tourism company called “India Untravelled”.
