Shiv Dayal Singh Seth, commonly known as Soamiji Maharaj, is an Indian spiritual personality and the founder of the 19th century spiritual belief, the Radhasoami movement. His followers and devotees honor him as “Param Purush Puran Dhani Huzur Soamiji Maharaj”.

Shiv Dayal Singh Seth was born on Monday 24th August 1818 (Age 59; at the time of death) Panni Gali, Agra, ceded province, British India. His zodiac sign is Virgo. In his infancy they moved to Agra in Uttar Pradesh under the command of the colonial British government where they planned to build a major military centre and they were recruiting staff for the base and they trusted the Sikh area from Punjab very much . Soamiji Maharaj was sent to school at the age of five to learn Hindi, Urdu, Persian and Gurumuki, Arabic and Sanskrit. During his childhood, his family followed a local living master named Sant Tulsi Saheb in Hatteras, Uttar Pradesh.

After completing his studies, Soamiji Maharaj started working as a Persian translator for government officials. Later, after gaining some experience in the Persian language, he quit his job and became a Persian tutor in Balabgarraja. Shortly after his father’s death, Soamiji Maharaj joined his family business and left tutoring. Soon his brother found a government job in the postal service as an alternative source of income for the family, and with this in mind, Soamiji Maharaj abandoned his family business.

After putting aside all the profits of the family business, his mind turned to spiritualism. Soon he was meditating, offering spiritual lectures based on Sikh scriptures, the teachings of Tulsi Sahib and his medieval predecessors. Gradually, he cultivated his own personal following through preaching. He began to guide his devotees through Surat Shabd yoga practice. Soamiji Maharaj has lived in Agra all his life while teaching holy mats and meditation.

After Tulsi Sahib’s death in 1843, Soamiji Maharaj locked himself in a room in a room and practiced Surat Shabd yoga for 15 years. He has been focusing on the inner Surat Shabd Yoga. According to spiritual records, he had not come out of the room for more than a day.

In 1861, he publicly gave a spiritual speech (Satsang) on ​​Vasant Panchami (Spring Festival) in Agra. Therefore, Vasant Panchami is an important day for followers of the Radhasoami faith. His followers did Abhyas (spiritual practice) as he requested and came to understand the great power of their guru by closing their eyes to meditate and focus their minds and souls. It made them realize the power of his grace and the original abode of the soul. His spiritual speeches emphasized love, the true guru, Satsang and the five-word secret, Naam (name). According to his teachings, these life ethic must be followed in order to attain salvation and redemption. Soamiji makes this Abhyas (meditation practice) so easy that any man, woman, young, old can do it. Over time, this belief in the Lord and the reunion of the Lord with the soul gave rise to the Ladassomi faith. Devotees who have trust, seriousness and faith in Soamiji Maharaj often go to his place to see his Darshan (spiritually watching him), follow further instructions in their Abhyas (practice) and ask them when they are meditating or concentrating The difficulties encountered in Surat, while learning its secrets and mysteries. Because of this behind-the-eye meditation, followers of Soamiji experience great power and glory in the practice of devotion by realizing the grace and compassion within him. Soamiji Maharaj goes on to explain the secrets of the original abode, enlightenment to the Parmarthis, and the procedure to reach the abode through the Surat Shabd Marga of his abode. For seventeen and a half years, Satsangs (spiritual words) continued day and night until his death. Sometimes, Satsangs that start at night continue until midnight or even the next morning. His teachings are mainly influenced by Tulsi Sahib’s Surat Shabd Yoga (union of the soul with divine power while listening to the inner voice), Guru Bhakti (complete devotion to the guru) and noble character. A lacto-vegetarian diet and abstaining from meat, drugs, alcohol and extramarital sex. The masters of this sect are themselves married; therefore, they do not advocate celibacy. It advocates following a spiritual path while living in the family. According to him,

The names of his disciples include his wife Naraini Devi, his brother Partap Singh (“Chachaji”), named Sanmukh Das, Jaimal Singh Maharaj (an army soldier), Gharib Das of Delhi, Rai Salig Ram, each in After Soamiji Maharaj’s death, some of them started their own independent centers of spiritual discourse, as these selected followers claimed to be his rightful heirs. Partap Singh is his ten or twelve year old devotee. A follower named Vishnoji was the resident caregiver of Soamiji Maharaj, who was in charge of Soamiji’s kitchen.
