In 1979, Chiavelini’s uncle, Tony Chiavelini, fought Sugar Ray Leonard in a nationally televised super welterweight bout. His twin brother went on to play professional football with the Cowboys, Browns and Falcons in the NFL. He now coaches football at UCLA. Chiaverini also has a younger brother, Zac, who committed suicide at the age of 20. Sadly, his mother died of pneumonia in February 2017.
