Nancy Jewel McDonie was born on Thursday, April 13, 2000 (21 years old; as of 2021), located in South-gu, Daegu, South Korea. Her Korean name is Lee Seung-ri. Later, in an interview with Mnet in 2020, she announced that her Korean name was Lee Geu-roo (Geu-loo or Geu-ru). She grew up in Columbus, Ohio, USA. Her zodiac sign is Aries.
She attended elementary school at Daegu Wolbae Elementary School and Pohang Hyoja Elementary School. She left South Korea at the age of two because her father was in the U.S. Army; she spent several months in Dublin, Ireland, before moving to Ohio with her family. After living in the United States for six years, she returned to South Korea in 2009. In 2018, she completed her high school graduation in music at Hanlim Multi Art School in Seoul, South Korea.
She graduated from Sungshin Women’s University in Seoul, majoring in Media and Visual Acting.

In 2010, she made her television debut as a children’s artist on the EBS TV show “Hangul Train Chipo.”
