Her late brother, Sanjeev Chawla aka Bobby Chawla, was the CEO of Red Chillies Entertainment.
In 1995, Juhi married a businessman, Jay Mehta, who married Yash Birla’s sister Sujata Birla for the first time. Sujata Birla died in a plane crash in 1990. The two have sons, Arjun Mehta, born in 2003, and daughters, Jhanvi Mehta, born in 2001.

Juhi Chawla completed his studies at Fort Convent School in Mumbai. She graduated in Human Resources from Sydenham College, Mumbai. She won the title of Miss India and was crowned by Rekha in 1984. That same year, she won the best costume award at the Miss Universe pageant.

Juhi Chawla has starred in many critically acclaimed commercial films including Darr, Hum Hain Rahi Pyar Ke, Yess Boss and Ishq to name a few. To enhance Hindi, she has also acted in many regional language films such as Telugu, Kannada, Bengali and Tamil.
In the early 2000s, after starring in more than 70 Hindi-language films, Juhi turned to independent and arthouse films.
