Jean Chatzky (full name Jean Sherman Chatzky) is the founder and CEO of American multimedia company HerMoney, journalist, NBC Today program financial editor, personal finance columnist, and AARP Personal Finance Ambassador. She started her journalistic career in 1986. She was promoted from editorial assistant to assistant editor.
In 1989, Jean left journalism to join Dean Witter Reynolds’ equity research department. She returned to journalism two years later, but now works as a reporter/researcher at Forbes. Jean moved to Dow Jones/Hearst startup SmartMoney in 1992. There, she rose from staff writer to senior editor. Five years later, in 1998, Jean joined Money magazine. During her working years, she has appeared on Oprah, Living with Regis and Kelly, The View, and other shows.

In early 2015, Jean co-founded a book called Time for Kids, a division of Time Inc. Money needed to teach financial literacy to 4th, 5th, and 6th graders. Financial support for the magazine is provided by PricewaterhouseCoopers Charitable Foundation. The magazine’s goal is to reach more than 2 million US students.
