Jatinder Singh Pannu was born on Tuesday 19 October 1954 (Age 66; as of 2020) in Sakhira, a small village near Tarn Taran Sahib, Punjab province. He went to primary school in the village and moved out of the village when he was 11 years old.

Jatinder started his career writing a column for Nawan Zamana, a Punjabi newspaper published by Jalandhar. According to him, newspapers taught him the basics of journalism. Soon he became the editor of the newspaper. During his first days in journalism, Mr Pannu was also involved in a news programme called “Khas Khabar Ik Nazar”, which airs every Friday morning in DD Punjabi by Doordarshan Kendra Jalandhar.
Jatinder was the first journalist to host a news programme on Prime Asia TV. In 2020, he has become the highest-rated journalist on Prime Asia TV, with over 800 episodes of his show Prime Discussion With Jatinder Pannu. His main audience came from Punjabis living abroad, and he was often praised for his outspoken opposition to the government.

As of 2020, Mr. Pannu has written six books, including a satirical book titled “Rang Duniya De”, a collection of poems titled “Ajj Nama”, “Dastaan Pachhon De Panchiya Di” and ” Sikh Dharam De Samajik Sarokar”. According to him, he distributed the first two editions of “Sikh Dharam De Samajik Sarokar” to young people for free as the book was written to promote Sikh culture to young people.
