Avani Lekhara is an Indian disabled shooter. In 2021, at the 2020 Tokyo Paralympics, she made history, winning gold in the 10m air rifle and bronze in the 50m rifle shooting. With this victory, she became the first Indian woman to win two medals at the Paralympic Games. After winning the event, she was ranked fifth in the world in the World Ranking of Shooting Disabled Sports. She also won a gold medal at the 2018 Asian Paralympic Games.

In 2012, when she was 11 years old, she suffered an accident that left her paralyzed from the waist down after a spinal cord injury. The accident left her paraplegic. Three years after the accident, her father encouraged her to play sports. She received initial training in archery and shooting. Later, she chose shooting as her main sport.
Disabled shooting career
In 2015, she started filming at the Jagatpura Sports Complex in Jaipur, India. In 2017, Avani Lekhara participated in the World Cup Championships in Al Ain, UAE, and made her shooting debut.
She set an R2 record at the 2017 WSPS World Cup Al Ain, where she won a silver medal. She won the R2 bronze medal at the 2017 WSPS World Cup in Bangkok. In 2018, she won gold medals in the 10m rifle, prone and 3P at the Dubai World Shooting Para Sports World Cup. She won 3 gold medals at the 63rd National Shooting Championships in Bhopal in 2019. In the same year, she won 3 gold medals at the 19th Kumar Surendra Singh Memorial Shooting Championships in New Delhi.
