Ashok Khemka was born on Friday 30 April 1965 (Age 56; as of 2021) in Kolkata, West Bengal. His zodiac sign is Taurus. He received his primary education at St Xavier’s College in Calcutta. He graduated in B.Tech (Computer Science Engineering) from Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur in 1988. He has since obtained his PhD in Computer Science at the Tata Institute for Fundamental Research, Mumbai. Khemka also holds an MBA in Business Administration and Finance and a Masters in Economics from IGNOU. He passed the IAS exam in 1991.

Profession
Ashok Khemka is an IAS batch of cadres in Haryana in 1991. He trained for 2 years before his first appointment as a District Judge of the Peace (SDM). Whenever he receives an unusual or informal request from a senior or politician, he requests it in writing. This has led him to report to his superiors and chief minister several times; this is the main reason for his many transfers.
Despite government directives stating that an IAS officer should serve a minimum of 2 years, he continues to be reassigned. He objected to bad contracts, questionable deals and unusual demands, but they were mostly ignored. His cadre friends had persuaded him to drop these issues, but he always said he just wanted to work properly. He was in the news in 2012 when he mutated a land deal between Robert Vadella’s company and DLF. He opposed the deal, saying there were many financial irregularities in the deal.
On March 3, 2019, Ashok Khemka’s 52nd transfer. All these transfers have caused him a lot of discomfort over the years. He has never posted in one place for more than 18 months, and his shortest post was 11 days. After being transferred for the 52nd time, he tweeted –

On October 22, 2021, he received the 54th reassignment order in his 29-year career when the Haryana government reassigned him as chief secretary of the Haryana State Department of Science and Technology. Previously, he served as Principal Secretary (Archives, Archaeology and Museums).

- On October 15, 2012, Ashok Khemka called off the abrupt land deal between Sonia Gandhi’s son-in-law Robert Vadra and real estate giant DLF. It got him in the news. Many opposed him, saying he was politically motivated. Ashok Khemka stands by his statement that he is doing his job and has no personal agenda.
- In 2012, the Haryana government formed a committee after Ashok Khemka accused Robert Vadra of a land deal between Robert Vadra and DLF. The commission had nothing to say about Robert Vadra and accused Kemka of damaging Robert Vadra’s reputation and unlawfully cancelling land deals.
- In 2017, he tweeted that a retired IAS officer, whose members had confessed to Robert Vadra in 2012, had been appointed to the real estate regulator. To Robert Vadella. He even made a sarcastic remark in his tweet –

- In 2017, he was transferred for the 51st time to work under Haryana Sports Minister Anil Vijay. He was appointed chief secretary of the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports. After receiving the order, he tweeted:

- In 2009, he received the Manjunath Shanmugam Trust Integrity Award for Public Works.

- He received several death threats after he reported irregularities in the Vadra-DLF land deal. On November 1, 2012, he filed a flight information report with Panchkula police, saying he received death threats on the phone and was regularly harassed because people would hang up and ring his home in the middle of the night. doorbell and run away before Khemka answers.
