Arnab Goswami was born on October 9, 1973 (Age 47; as of 2020) in Guwahati, Assam, India. Since his father was an army officer, Arnab spent his childhood in different cities and attended different schools. He completed his higher education at St. Mary’s Hill School at Camp Delhi and went to Kendria Vidyaraya at Camp Jabalpur to complete his high school education. He became interested in debating when he got into the 6th grade. Goswami holds a BA in Sociology from the Hindu College of Delhi University.he finished his Master of Social Anthropology from Oxford University, UK.

Arnab Goswami was born in Assamese Brahmin family. He is the son of Manoranjan Goswami. Colonel and Suprabha Goswami. His father also represented the BJP in the general election in Guwahati, but lost to Congress candidate Bhubaneswar Kalita. His grandfather, Rajani Kanta Goswami, was a judge, Bhartiya Jana Sangh leader and independence activist. His uncle, Dinesh Goswami, briefly served as union law minister under Vishwanath Pratap Singh’s government. Arnab’s sister is in the Indian Ministry of Defense and his brother-in-law is in the Indian Ministry of Defense.
Arnab Goswami is married to Pipi Goswami and the couple have two children.

In 1990, he started his journalism career at the newspaper “The Telegraph.” It was the shortest career he had ever had, leaving the job less than a year later. In 1995, Goswami moved to Delhi and got his first job as a news anchor for NDTV 24×7. He worked as a newscaster for NDTV 24×7 for three years before becoming its news editor there. Arnab hosts his own show on NDTV and even Co-hosted a show with Rajdeep Sardesai On the DD subway channel. In 2004, he won Asia’s Best News Anchor Award for a show called “Newsnight”.
In 2002, he released his first book, ‘Fighting Terrorism: The Law challenge,’ It details all the difficulties of making laws against terrorists and terrorism.
In 2006, he became editor-in-chief of Time News Channel. He hosts the 9 p.m. show “Newshour” and provides live news coverage. - On May 26, 2017, MP Shashi Tharoor filed a defamation lawsuit in Delhi High Court against Arnab’s television channel Republic TV, linking Tharoor to his wife’s death.
- In April 2020, he faced charges of using derogatory terms against Sonia Gandhi during a panel discussion on a show about the lynching of Parga in Maharashtra. To this end, he presented him with multiple FIRs.
- On November 4, 2020, he was arrested by Raigad police for abetting suicide. According to police, Mr Goswami is under investigation over the death of Anvay Naik, an architect suspected of being involved in designing his studio. In May 2018, Mr Naik and his mother were reportedly found dead at their home in Alibaug, Maharashtra. According to Mr Naik’s wife, he left a suicide note in which he blamed Mr Goswami’s death. On the morning of November 4, 2020, Arnab was arrested at his home in Mumbai by a joint operation of Raigad Police and Mumbai Police.
Later, a suicide note written by Mr Naik began to circulate on social media, in which Arnab Goswami was responsible for his death.
On November 11, 2020, two justices of Supreme Court of India Justices DY Chandrachud and Indira Banerjee granted him provisional bail in the abetting suicide case.
