Anuradha Paudwal was born on October 27, 1954 in Alka Nadakarni (Age 66; as in 2018) Karwar in the Indian state of Mumbai (now Karnataka). She graduated from St Xavier’s College in Mumbai. She claims to have never received any musical training; her mother sent her to a local music school, where she took valuable singing lessons. She also trained everywhere, but failed in the process. She took Lata Mangeshkar as her mentor and started practicing for hours following Lata Ji’s notes. Her horoscope/sun sign is Scorpio.

She was born into a Konkani family in Uttara Kannada, Karnataka, India, but grew up in Mumbai. She comes from a family where singing is taboo. Her father was totally against her singing. However, her mother supported her talent and sent her to a local music school to learn singing. She is married to composer Late Arun Paudwal.
They had a son named Aditya Paudwal who passed away on September 12, 2020 at the age of 35.
