- A chain of misfortunes struck Anu’s life one after the other. In 1982, Rohinton suffered his first heart attack after two years in bed. According to Anu. During his recovery, he suffered various mood swings and multiple temper problems. During this time, Anu began to dabble in the business. Rohinton took over the task as soon as he recovered. Rohinton and Anu share a common interest in reading and writing; in addition, he wrote a book during his recovery.
- In 1995, their company went public. Barring a devastating event in their lives, the company has been on the cutting edge under Rohinton Aga. In 1996, Anu returned to India from the UK after a lapse of six months, when her daughter had given birth to her first child, and Rohinton was on his way to pick up Anu from Pune to Mumbai. On the way, he suffered a second severe heart attack and lost his life. This caused a major setback for Anu. As she grieved the loss of her late husband, shareholders accused her of letting them down as Thermax share price quickly surged from Rs 400 to Rs 36. Also, the company went public only a year ago. Speaking of which, her daughter Meh said in an interview,
This is a huge responsibility. The board had to make the difficult decision within 48 hours of her father’s death to let her lead the organization. The courage of my mother’s convictions surfaced, and she had to come up with a turnaround plan. “
- Just the day after her husband died, the board of directors held a meeting and she appointed her as the next chairman of Thermax Private Limited. Anu wasn’t ready to take responsibility. According to Anu, she was named chairman of Thermax because her family owns 62% of the company and she was easily bullied. Considering the company’s losses, Anu decided to take over command. Earlier, she was not ready because she was not from an engineering background. Soon, she held various training sessions to understand how the company worked. She said in an interview,
You don’t have to know everything…in fact, one of my beliefs is that skills can be hired. Leaders have to show intelligence – it can’t be hired. “
After she became chairman, she made several changes to the company’s operations. She hired the Boston Consulting Group and launched a “green initiative.” She disbanded the full board with her daughter. She introduced new members who could restructure the company’s business. She eliminates unnecessary investments made by the company. In the beginning, many members were against her decision, even her own family, but later, it led to better results.

To deprive her of this, she began to practice Vipassana, a Buddhist form of meditative penance. This gave her a lot of strength and positivity. In an interview, she elaborated on her experience, saying,
Another important lesson I learned after Kurush died was to stop asking why it happened and start acknowledging the Almighty’s design of things, which can sometimes be inexplicable. As soon as you are born, you will die. The sun rises and sets. Likewise, we all have to leave this earth, can you imagine the chaos if we don’t? Therefore, we cannot avoid death. This acceptance will teach you to make time for things while people are still alive. Don’t procrastinate, don’t procrastinate. “

In an interview, Meh, who supports it, said,
We believe that everyone can choose their own life as long as they have opportunity and equal access to education. The related term here is given a chance, and most people don’t get it. So by teaching for India, Akanksha, she is trying to bring about change. “
- Even after retirement, Anuaga followed a fitness regimen. She practices Vipassana and exercise thoroughly, mixing walking, cycling and yoga to stay fit and positive. She also enjoys cardio, but doctors have kept her away from strenuous exercise since she underwent back surgery a few years ago.
- In an interview, Anuaga expressed her views on religious beliefs, saying,
Although I was born Zoroastrian, I am not a religious person, and I do go to fire temples. But it doesn’t make much sense to me. I don’t feel God is there. But sometimes, when you can’t understand things on Earth, I feel like there must be someone out there who has a master plan. Like you scold your child, the child may think you are cruel; but you have a plan and your intentions are good. Likewise, God’s will is good. You came to this life to experience what you choose to experience, whether it be death, poverty, or disability. So you might be thinking: Why did Anu suffer so much? But I think it’s an opportunity, a learning process. And what’s the point of this tiny point in time here when you look at it from the perspective of a thousand reincarnations. But the beauty of life is that everyone has to find their own meaning. There is no right or wrong answer. You have to keep looking to find what is meaningful to you. “
