Anand Mahindra was born on Sunday, May 1, 1955 (Age 66; as of 2021) in Mumbai (now Mumbai) in India (now Maharashtra and Gujarat). His zodiac sign is Taurus. From an early age, he wanted to be a film producer.
Coming from an industrial background, his parents never forced him to start a business. He completed a BA in Film Production at Harvard University (Cambridge, USA). He returned to India in 1977 and joined Mahindra Ugine Steel Company Ltd (MUSCO) in 1981 as Executive Assistant to the Chief Financial Officer. He has expanded globally and became a household name after becoming Chairman of Mahindra & Mahindra Group in 2016. During this time, he completed an MBA from the prestigious Harvard Business School (Boston, USA).

His career started in 1981 when he joined Mahindra Ugine Steel Company Ltd (MUSCO). In 1989, he was promoted to President and Deputy General Manager of MUSCO. This step opens the door for Mahindra Group to diversify into a new level of business, taking into account property development and hotel management.
In 1996, he established the Nanhi Kali Charitable Trust to support the education of young impoverished girls in India. As of 2017, it has contributed to the education of some 130,000 girls. He also became one of the directors of the Naandi Foundation, a trust dedicated to the socio-economic development of India.
Soon, he became president of ARAI (Automotive Research Association of India), an association dedicated to the research and development of environmentally safe mobility. He then co-founded the Harvard Business School Association in India to promote domain name management in the country.
Soon he established Naandi Danone to provide safe drinking water to rural India. In August 2012, he took over as Chairman and Managing Director of Mahindra Group from his uncle Keshub Mahindra.
Apart from that, he also became the initiator of Kotak Mahindra. He has been given multiple recognitions and achievements.
