His reforms produced a better government, which he handled himself. Some of his reforms include tax reforms (direct taxation and removal of Hindu governors), market reforms (lowering commodity prices to maintain a large army of low wages), social reforms (banning alcohol, prostitution, magicians and charlatans) and Military reform. Although these reforms were implemented to prevent protests and rebellions of any kind, few of them were conducive to maintaining a strong government. Alauddin Khilji proved himself a great warrior before Delhi Sultan Jalaluddin, who appointed Alauddin as Amir-i-Tuzuk. Later, in order to win Jalaluddin’s trust, he succeeded in suppressing a rebellion against the Sultan, and in 1291 he was given the position of Governor of Kara and then Governor of Awad. In 1296 he attacked Devagiri and robbed the king. He should bring all the looted treasures to Delhi. Instead, he took it to Kara. His actions were quite rebellious. So Sultan Jalaluddin personally went to question Aladdin, who killed the Sultan by backstab. This automatically makes him the next sultan of Delhi.
After becoming the Sultan of Delhi, he successfully deceived the Mongols and conquered many Hindu kingdoms including “Gujarat”, “Chitor”, “Malwa”, “Sivana”, “Jallor”, etc. During the conquest, his military commander and advisor, Malik Kafur, proved to be a great help.
