One of the butt plates was 1cm below the allowable level and I was suspended for this technical reason. I had to start from scratch and play state, then national qualifiers, then national games. That was the hardest time. When I was selected to try out for the MP Shooting Academy, I knew I had to stay away from my family. It was tough at first, but I specifically visited the village during the festival. I also put special emphasis on going to Navgrah Bazaar. “

He came to the Academy in 2015. He attended a summer camp in Bhopal. He was inspired by his own brother, a shooter. He started his foundation in 2015. He started with the 10m and then we saw him doing well and he started racing the 50m as well. If you look at him live, when he gets the medal, his reaction is zero, there is no expression on his face, it’s his nature. That’s why he performed so well. He was calm and happy, but unaffected by success. He likes the sport. “

Facts/trivia
- In an interview, when asked what inspired him to start shooting professionally, he replied,
I joined the shoot inspired by my cousin Navdeep Singh Rathod. They are also shooters. He was admitted to Madhya Pradesh Shooting Academy. I’ve been practicing there since 2015. I was drafted to the Nationals the first year, but I was disqualified. After that, I had to wait a year for the Nationals. Won the 2016 National Championship. The 2017-18 season wasn’t much better for me either. In 2019, a selection was made in the junior team. Created a record and won a gold medal at the World Cup. And then into the top five. “
- His father had a keen interest in shooting from an early age, but he was unable to pursue it as a profession. In an interview, his father said of the same thing,
As a landowner (50 acres of land) I own more than three guns and we used to go hunting a lot when Aishwari was young. When I was young, no one told me to do competitive shooting. But now seeing Aishwari grow up to be a junior world champion, it feels like she is a world champion too. “
- In 2019, he received the Eklavya Award from the Madhya Pradesh Government for his achievements in filming.
- In an interview, talking about Aishwari, his national team coach Suma Sirul said,
Aishwari’s greatest strength was his focus, which helped me guide him when I joined the academy. We’ll build on him a lot and he’s always shown he’s eager to play in all three events, which is a good thing for a young striker. 3P requires a lot of stamina as it lasts over three hours. But Aishwari would not hesitate to train extra for the event. “
- In an interview, he shared how he prepared during the lockdown for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. He said,
I practice at Madhya Pradesh Shooting Academy. During the lockdown, I went home and focused on fitness with the help of Manav Rachna Academy. I don’t even have bullets and a rifle. This rifle was given to me by State Sports Minister Yashodhara Raje Scindia due to special permission. I did dry training. When things returned to normal after the lockdown and the Sports Authority of India (SAI) was allowed to practice, I came to the academy and started practicing. I should have no problem preparing for the World Cup and the Olympics, so I ordered new equipment as well. “
- In an interview, Aishwari shared how his name was often made fun of in the early days. He said,
I am often called Aishwarya Rai and today is Akshay Kumar! Pata nahi kya chal raha hai! I have to show them my shooter ID, wahan bhi naam galat tha! Thank goodness it’s all over. “
