Will Joy or Ned in Spider-Man: Nowhere die?
Now that Tony Stark is gone, is his ex-bodyguard and driver Happy Hogan the closest thing to Peter Parker’s new mentor? We know Ned is his best friend and most loyal supporter. Can it be said that Ned was the most important person in Peter’s life? Every Spider-Man fan knows that, under normal circumstances, that person would have to be Aunt May, even though he doesn’t spend much time on screen with her in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Maybe it’s because he’s often far away from home? This raises a lot of questions about how their relationship will be affected by the end of No Way Home. Spider-Man: Nowhere is coming out next week, and I know everyone’s excited. Of course, we knew there were two elephants in the room, and we knew they would be in that room. It’s no secret at this point, but I think fans overlooked Tom Holland’s Peter Parker supporting role. It’s still his movie in the end, and there’s been a lot of speculation about where his story goes after No Way Home. I have a bad feeling that things won’t end well. No, I’m not saying Tom Holland’s Peter Parker is going to die. According to Amy Pascal, there is another trilogy in the pipeline after “Nowhere to Go.” On top of that, he might actually be in the MCU after all.
We have to remember that the multiverse is already in the MCU, and Kevin Feige has said that Spider-Man is the only character who can bounce across multiple universes. Sony’s Spider-Man would certainly welcome him, but he might have to leave some family behind. Or, to be more precise, they are likely to leave him. Now, if you’ve seen the latest trailer, you’ve probably seen Peter desperately trying to save MJ from falling to his death. If you’re a Spider-Man fan, you know what this reflects. Heck, Sony has emulated this with Gwen Stacy in The Amazing Spider-Man 2. For the most part, that’s accurate for comic book fans, but we just don’t feel the impact it’s supposed to have. Now that Sony tried it once before, will they do it again in No Way Home? Maybe so, but I actually think this deliberate foreshadowing of MJ’s falling “death” is misleading. Of course, she could still meet her death, but I think Sony planned to kill other people close to Peter.
My top two candidates are Happy Hogan and Ned. Losing Ned would be devastating for Peter. He’s his best friend, but he’s been with Peter almost every step of the way in both Spider-Man movies. Ned will serve as Peter’s sidekick, his insider, his technical support, and his moral support. He even used his cyber shooter to save his life from Shocker. Having Ned by his side was of course vital to Peter, but he also had Happy. Happy was one of the few people who knew Peter Parker from the start. Before putting on the Spider-Man suit, Happy acted as Peter’s surrogate uncle. He was annoyed by the task of constantly escorting Peter in the first place and making sure he didn’t share his introductory video with anyone. Under Tony Stark’s orders, Happy is responsible for ensuring that Peter is held accountable for the lawsuit. It’s a task he doesn’t like to do, but he secretly knows that Peter has a lot of potential. It was all demonstrated at the end of Spider-Man: Homecoming, and Happy took it a step further when Far From Home came along. How did he do that? Oh, and just dating Aunt May without Peter’s knowledge.
Peter had some questions about it, but I think he implicitly welcomed it. But let’s remember who Peter called when he was nearly killed by Mysterio and got lost in Holland. Xingxin answered the phone and found out about Peter’s private affairs, which caught him off guard. A good way to prove that he’s not hallucinating, but the really moving moment is when Peter’s morale is low. At this moment, Happy came in like a real uncle, reminding Peter that even the greatest hero can make mistakes. Of course, we can’t forget the hilarious sequence of Happy saving Peter’s friend. At this point, Happy is as much a member of the Parker family as Ned. Peter needs these two support figures to keep his morale up after losing Tony Stark. So what happens if Peter loses either of them in No Way Home? What if he did lose both of them? It would be a devastating end to the trilogy, but if it were to end, it had to have such a huge impact. Remember the first time you tried and failed? And The Amazing Spider-Man movie never even made a trilogy, so Tom Holland’s film has a chance to rectify that.
I just have a feeling that Happy will be a dead man when the new villain comes along. In the second trailer, Peter sobbed and wept as he admitted to MJ that he couldn’t save everyone. Why would he say that? Probably because the people around him were killed by one of the villains who traveled into his world. I don’t think it was Ned because he ended up in the final fight. What if Happy dies in his car, and this is where the story takes a big turn? That would certainly set him down a dark path, and if he ended up losing Ned, he would be completely devastated. Even MJ’s consolation can’t stop him from getting his revenge. Like I said, this trilogy sets a lot, so it has to end in a serious way. We don’t know where Peter’s journey will lead next, but the loss of Joy and/or Ned will change him forever. Spider-Man fans, what do you think? Do you think Happy or Ned will die in No Way Home?
