Ahmad ‘Sauce’ Gardner is a cornerback for the Cincinnati Bears who attended Martin Luther King High School in Detroit, Michigan. He later committed to playing college football at the University of Cincinnati, where he spent a historic three years.

Ahmed ‘Sauce’ Gardner declares for 2022 NFL draft
On Tuesday, Jan. 4, Gardner revealed he was leaving school early to declare for the 2022 NFL draft.
“Thank you for your support over the past three years,” Gardner said in a statement on Twitter“You guys are the best fans in the world and I will always remember being unbeaten at Nippert Stadium, playing on the biggest stage, you guys cheered me on.”
“I discussed it with my family,” Gardner told Yahoo Sports. “My job in Cincinnati was done. I came in and did everything I was supposed to do. I listened to everything the coach told me to take better care of my family.”

Why is Ahmed Gardner’s nickname “Sauce”?
With expectations high for cornerbacks, many fans have wondered why Ahmed Gardner’s nickname is “Sauce.” Gardner actually picked up the “Sauce” nickname at age 6 from youth sports coach Curtez Harris, aka Coach Tez.
Coach Tez, well known in Gardner’s hometown of Detroit, noticed the youngster’s athleticism from an early age. He would tell him: “To be a man, you have to inherit this sauce. “
Gardner was originally nicknamed A1, however, when coach Tez praised Gardner for a slashing move while playing for the East Bengals, He called him: “A1 Sauce Sweetfoot Gardner.” Ahmed reportedly liked the nickname and eventually shortened it to “Sauce.” “The child’s name is ringing,” Coach Tez said. “He brings excitement and passion to the game.”
The name lives on, and Gardner even has a giant chain that says “Sauce.”
Gardner’s college career in more detail
The 6-foot-3, 200-pound CB is legendary in Cincinnati. During that time, despite being named the No. 1672 prospect in the 2019 recruiting class, he was one of the top performers in the 2022 class. Ahmed became an All-League player and later the All-American. He led the team to two AAC championships and a college football playoff appearance.
Even more impressively, in more than 1,000 career reports, Gardner never gave up a touchdown.
Per CBS Sports, Gardner completed 99 tackles, 16 defensive passes and nine interceptions in his three years with the Pandas, and only had 712 total receiving yards on 138 career targets. Cincinnati went 33-5 with Gardner on a 22-game winning streak in the College Football Playoff semifinals before losing 27-6 to No. 1 Alabama.
