There are countless friendship films released over the years, but very few can become timeless classics. One of them is Rob Reiner’s acclaimed masterpiece, stand by my sideThe 1986 adult film adaptation of Stephen King’s novel The Body tells the story of four friends who encounter the body of a missing boy on a hiking trip. Stephen King is known for his creepy stories, but somehow this film is able to portray it in other ways. It’s not easy to make a movie with a cast of mostly child actors. The story is either engaging or the child actors are brilliant. The film has both elements in its favor. The movie begins today when Gordy reads a newspaper article about a man stabbed in a restaurant. It allowed him to recall an unforgettable journey he and three of his other friends, Teddy, Vern and Chris, embarked on on a big Labor Day weekend in 1959. Four 12-year-old boys got together after learning a stranger was accidentally killed near where they lived. They set out to find the body, but encounter a series of challenges along the way, including a group of bullies led by Ace Merrill, portrayed by Kiefer Sutherland (Designated Survivor), a swamp full of leeches, and more. It’s the adventure of a lifetime for the four boys to get to know each other in such a profound and profound way and become a defining moment in their lives.
Eternal life and friendship stories
it’s been over 30 years Since the movie premiered, but rewatching it feels like it just aired yesterday. The emotion it can evoke is not easy to forget. That’s true friendship – you don’t necessarily have to remember every moment you have together, but you never forget how it made you feel.
The film ends on a bittersweet but realistic level in many ways. After venturing home, the four boys part ways and return to their normal lives. This continues until they grow up. Gordie recounts how Teddy and Vern moved away from him and Chris after their junior year of high school, and how Chris later entered college to become a lawyer. Everything seemed fine until Gordy dropped the bombshell that Chris was stabbed to death while trying to stop a fight in a restaurant. More than a decade has passed, but Gordy revealed he will miss him forever. The ending scene of this movie couldn’t be more poignant. Gordy concluded his story by saying: “Then I never had the same friends I had when I was twelve. Jesus, anyone?They say grief is the price we pay for love. Friends come into our lives for a reason, and friendships teach us valuable lessons that last a lifetime.
