Ja Morant played at an extraordinary level, propelling the Grizzlies into a contender in the Western Conference. After his recent win over the Cavaliers, Morant called the attention of NBA bigs to let them know he’s not afraid.
Not only is Ja Morant playing at the All-Star level, he’s currently playing at the All-NBA level. The fearless Grizzlies point guard has been tearing up recently, cementing himself as one of the most athletic and exciting point guards in the NBA today.
Ja Morant on NBA bigs: ‘Why should I be scared?’
The 22-year-old is a walking highlight, willing to go head-to-head with any shot-blocker in the league. Ja has recently played against the likes of Lauri Markkanen, Jarrett Allen and Evan Mobley, and once again was undeterred by his taller opponents.
The former ROY continued to impress Tuesday night with 26 points, five rebounds, six assists and two steals in a 110-106 victory over the Cleveland Cavaliers. The 6-foot-3 guard scored six points in the final 30 seconds of the game, including tough back-to-back layups that gave Memphis a W.
In a postgame interview, Morant brought the league — especially the bigs — into focus, saying, “I’m not afraid of anyone, man. I don’t care if you’re 7-foot-7 or what, I’m going to run straight at you. .”
Morant then responded to the interview on Twitter, retweeting the video with the caption: “Why should I be scared? We put our shoes in the same place.”
NBA Twitter reacts to Morant’s heroics
Unsurprisingly, Morant is fast becoming a fan favorite. After struggling since the Marc Gasol, Zach Randolph and Mike Conley eras, Jaha has nearly single-handedly brought Memphis back into the West’s competition.
Almost every night, Morant is throwing vicious dunks and making big moves — and NBA Twitter is giving him his props.

Ja has been crying lately
The Memphis Grizzlies are currently the fourth seed in the Western Conference, and Morant is enjoying his best year in the league. This season, Jia is averaging career highs in points, rebounds, blocks and steals. He has broke his average PPG improved by 6 points (25.1 PPG) and his shooting percentage improved from 45% to 49%. Ja is also shooting 40 percent from 3-point range on 4.3 attempts per game.
He also did it in the big games. Morant, who scored 33 points in the win over the No. 2 Suns, recently lit up LeBron and the Lakers with 41 points and 6-of-7 shooting with 10 rebounds.
The rest of the league better watch out.
