Golf at the Olympics is going well despite brief delays due to lightning on the course. Four-time Grand Slam winner Rory McIlroy is bidding for gold in his first Olympics. However, fans noticed a difference in his usual attire, especially not wearing his usual Nike hat. So why didn’t Rory McIlroy wear a hat at the Olympics?
Northern Irishman makes his Olympic debut
Rory McIlroy made his Olympic debut yesterday at Kasumigaseki Country Club outside Tokyo.
The four-time Grand Slam champion will represent Northern Ireland at the Tokyo Olympics with teammate Shane Lowry.
Their first round was postponed by lightning, and McIlroy had four holes left and was under par.
Rory started with two birdies, but then made a bogey in the fourth.
The Northern Irishman birdied the 11th to return to 2 under, but dropped another shot on the 12th.
He is currently ranked 30th.
Speaking of the game in Tokyo this morning, Rory Say: “When you’re a competitor… [at the Olympics], you feel part of something bigger than yourself, and something bigger than your movement. If I’ve learned anything this week, it’s that you feel like you’re part of something bigger, which is a cool feeling. “

Rory surprises fans by not wearing a hat
Aside from actual golf, fans were surprised to see McIlroy not wearing his signature hat.
The 32-year-old swapped out his usual PGA Tour attire, ditching his signature Nike hat for a natural look.
McIlroy has been wearing his cap on the court since he turned pro, so seeing him without one came as a surprise to many.
Rory + Old Scotty – 1 hat = 10 majors.
I will not answer questions at this time.

Why doesn’t Rory McIlroy wear a hat at the Olympics?
The new wardrobe options are obviously a bit of a shock, but people leaving Twitter seem to enjoy seeing Rory in his natural state.
Many also pondered why he chose to drop the hat.
Well, it’s probably due to sponsorship obligations.
Unlike the PGA Tour, the Olympics are not under McIlroy’s sponsorship, so there is no obligation to wear any Nike-branded clothing.
He’s probably not a huge fan of the hat anyway, so any opportunity to take it off is taken with both hands.
Let’s hope it’s a good sign and a medal.
