Why does Emma Cobain get DQ?Runner’s disqualification explained
American middle-distance runner Emma Coburn competed in the women’s 3,000-meter steeplechase at the Tokyo Olympics, hoping to beat her bronze medal in Rio. It wasn’t her day, however, as the 30-year-old finished 14th. Later, it was revealed that Cobain had received a DQ, and people wondered why she was disqualified.
What happened to the women’s 3,000m steeplechase?
Uganda’s Perut Chemutay won the national record in the women’s 3,000-meter steeplechase at the Tokyo Olympics.
The runner-up finished in 9:01.45, beating Team USA record holder Courtney Frerichs for the gold medal.

Chemutai’s gold medal was the first Olympic medal for a Ugandan woman in any sport.
It was an intense race and Frerichs took silver in 9:04.79, the third fastest time of her life.
Hyvin Kiyeng of Kenya took bronze in 9:05.39.
However, fans want to know what happened to 2016 bronze medalist Emma Coburn and why she got the DQ.

Three-time Olympian and 2017 world champion Emma Coburn struggles to keep up with her signature event.
On the final lap, Cobain stumbled over an obstacle and fell.
She initially finished 14th with a time of 9:41:50.

So why was she disqualified?
Some Olympic coverage, which failed to explain what happened to Cobain, was removed from the footage.

Cobain is actually Disqualification Because she stepped on the rails on the inside of the track when she fell on the last lap.
Athletes must not exceed track limits during the race, which is why Emma received a DQ.

Cobain responds to her disqualification
Coburn was clearly destroyed by DQ.
“What I did was not who I wanted to be, how lame my last two laps were,” Cobain Then told reporterss.
“I’m not hurt. I don’t have an answer. It was a failure and I’m really sad. I’m embarrassed.”
After the game, Cobain shared a tweet congratulating friend and silver medalist Courtney Fririchs.
The 2017 world champion then spoke about her own game, saying she was very disappointed.
Cobain said: “My Tokyo Olympics game was a complete failure. I was horrible. Disappointed not to be my best player and not be able to represent my country and team well.”
