Winter Song is part of a broad and eclectic soundtrack
Post-apocalyptic dystopian thriller series Snowpierceraccording to Bong Joon-ho’s 2013 movies (same name) and the 1982 French graphic novel Le Transperceneige, with a soundtrack designed by composers Bear McCreary and Bobby Krlic.
Viewers may have recognized the voice of Etta James in episode 10 of season 2, or Lena Hall’s voice on Wilford’s record player in episode 5.
Songs from Zero 7 and Iron Mic Family also grace the series’ soundtrack.
What made fans curious, however, was Oz’s rendition of Winter’s Song.

Who wrote the Winter Song for Snowpiercer?
During the first half of the season 2 finale, Ozzy the Gatekeeper plays Winter Songs on the piano during dinner with Wilford. It begins with “This is my winter song for you”.
Written by Sara Bareilles and Ingrid Michaelson, winter song is a seasonal song originally written and sung as a duet.
The song peaked at number 97 on the Canadian charts in 2008 and number two in Ireland in 2011.
However, it got a new lease of life when it was re-recorded by Twitter users and Twitterettes of Twitter Parish. It was released as a charity single in December 2011 and is called TWinter Song.
It re-entered the Irish Singles Chart at number eight. Its re-emergence lifted Bareilles and Michaelson’s original to No. 2 in the same week.

Is actor Sam Otto also a singer?
When it aired two days ago, Sam Otto moved audiences with his rendition of the song as janitor Oz. But does he have a professional singing career? Surprisingly no.
After training at the London Drama Centre, the 28-year-old British actor gained popularity in 2017 as Jalal on Peter Kosminsky’s The Nation (Channel 4).
