DeChambeau, the mighty, protein-drinking powerlifter, breaks the mold for new-age golfers
Since his debut, Bryson has been golf’s much-needed pantomime villain, and his constant back-and-forth with Brooks Koepka has brought new eyes to the sport.
DeChambeau’s parents: his father Jon
Bryson’s father is Jon DeChambeau, himself an avid golfer who played several PGA Tour events in the late 1980s and early 1990s.
Jon played golf at the University of Arizona from 1979 to 1982. After graduating, Jon entered the golf world by working as an assistant golf professional.
He worked at Skyline Country Club in Tucson, Arizona, before heading to Tucson National Golf Club, where he remained until 1987. He later became the manager of a chain of golf shops before briefly turning pro.
After that, Jon got back into business (his profession), working in sales at a golf club.
The last part of his career was as regional manager for Northern California at Verishot, a golf social media company.

Bryson DeChambeau’s mom Jan
Bryson’s outgoing, often outspoken personality isn’t surprising considering his parents both worked in sales. His mother, Jan DeChambeau, worked as a sales representative for the mattress company Serta.
The DeChambeaus live in Clovis, California, near Fresno. They have two sons, Bryson the youngest.

Golfer shares touching moment with parents after U.S. Open win
When Bryson won the 2020 U.S. Open, no crowd or family congratulated him because of the pandemic. However, he was able to share a touching moment with his parents via a video link.
“Oh my God!” Bryson exclaimed, turning from the screen to calm down. “Hey mom, hey dad – I did it!”
“That was one of the coolest moments, seeing my parents on screen,” DeChambeau said later. “I didn’t expect it. My parents gave me so much.
“I mean, sometimes I go to school without any lunch money and we have to make bologna sandwiches and have nothing to eat. We have some very, very difficult times.
“But every day, they always wanted the best for me, and they always gave me the opportunity to play golf, to practice, to get better.”
