Who owns the McLaren F1 team after the Audi rumours are put to rest?

McLaren has vehemently denied rumours of Audi buying it following reports in the British press this morning, but who really owns the team? Does the father of the current Formula 1 driver own shares?
Respected British Motoring Publication car An article was published early Monday morning, It is implied that the McLaren Group – including the F1 team – has been bought by Audi.
Audi’s parent company is Volkswagen – through one of its brands, Volkswagen has strong ties to entering F1 in the not too distant future, which also includes Porsche.
McLaren issued a strong statement calling the article “completely inaccurate” but did not deny that such a takeover was a possibility in the future.
But who owns a McLaren at the moment? Is Ron Dennis still involved in the team, with the current driver’s father owning part of the McLaren team?

Who runs McLaren?

- McLaren’s technology strategy has always involved ongoing discussions and collaboration with relevant partners and suppliers, including other automakers, however, the ownership structure of the McLaren Group has not changed.
The team’s current CEO is Zach Brown, who took the helm at the start of the 2017 season, with the F1 team struggling as the Honda season comes to a close.

Brawn manages the McLaren team every day, and Andreas Seidl was brought in from the sports car world to lead the team.
James Key was hired from Toro Rosso (now AlphaTauri) as Woking’s technical director.
Who owns McLaren revealed?
McLaren’s current principal ownership structure is broken down as follows:
- Mumtalakat Holding Company – 56.3%
- Tiger Group 14.3%
- Michael Latifi – 10%
The remaining 20% of McLaren shares are owned by various shareholders.
None of these companies owns more than 6 percent.
Mumtalakat with Bahrain Deputy Prime Minister Khalid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa also known as Bahrain’s sovereign wealth fund.

It is sometimes simply referred to as “Bahrain” in F1 reviews on the track.
Latifi is the father of current Williams racing driver Nicholas.
Is Ron Dennis still involved with McLaren?
Ron Dennis and McLaren first met in the early 1980s when his F2 Project 4 Racing team merged with McLaren.
Dennis became team leader and under his leadership the team won seven constructors’ titles and 10 drivers’ titles.
The McLaren world champions Dennis played for him included drivers such as Ayrton Senna, Alain Prost, Niki Lauda, Mika Hakkinen and Lewis Hamilton.

Dennis stepped down as CEO in 2009 but returned in 2014, usurping his former protégé Martin Whitmarsh.
By this time, however, Dennis’ relationship with shareholder Mansour Ojjeh had soured.
Ojjeh was the CEO of TAG and joined forces with Dennis in the early 1980s.
The long-term partnership broke down, and Ojjeh forced Dennis to step down as CEO in 2016.
Dennis then sold his stake in McLaren and officially left the company in the summer of 2017.
