NASCAR team StarCom Racing has announced they will be leaving the Cup Series after the Phoenix finals, but who owns the team? Which Daytona 500 Champion was on the team?
To play full-time in a cup series, teams must have a bylaw that allows them to do so.
Teams can lease their charters to other squads if they wish, but there is a limit to the number of charters.
Cup seats are capped at 40 with a total of 36 charter seats, one of which will be hosted by StarCom Racing in 2021 for #00 Chevrolet.
On Friday, the team confirmed it will stop racing after this weekend’s 2021 season finale in Phoenix.
Their charter was sold to an unspecified team, although this is believed to be Spire Motorsports.
It is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to StarCom Racing fans. Following this weekend’s Championship, our #00 charter will take on new ownership. A big thank you to all our fans for the fun memories and loyal support over the years! #z00m pic.twitter.com/VPVmegCuDQ
