In the men’s shot put final at the Tokyo Olympics, Ryan Krause once again won the gold medal. Krause, who came from an Olympic family, paid tribute to his grandfather after winning the title in Tokyo.

Ryan Krause wins gold in the shot put at the Tokyo Olympics.
Krause, 6-foot-7, 315 pounds, is a four-time college shot put national champion. He also won a gold medal at the 2016 Rio Olympics.
Krause followed up on his previous victories with even greater success in the shot put final in Tokyo, breaking an Olympic record in five of his past six attempts.
His last throw, 23.30m, fell just short of his own world record (23.37m).
Krause became the fourth man in history to win the shot put gold twice.

Krause pays tribute to his late grandfather Larry
After the victory, Ryan paid tribute to his grandfather Larry.
Larry Krause tragically passed away shortly before the Tokyo Olympics.
On Thursday, Ryan pulled out a piece of paper and showed it to the world.
It read: “Grandpa. We did it. 2020 Olympic champions!”
Ryan first learned to shoot in his grandfather’s garden.
“It was obviously sad to lose him a week before the Olympics,” Krause told the media. Washington post. “But I think he’s able to be here mentally.
“He always tells me to stop and enjoy the moment. He knows me, I’m always super goal oriented and take the long view. The thing he always tells me is to stop and smell the roses.”
Ryan’s mother, Lisa, is coming home to guard with Ryan’s family.

Ryan Crouser comes from an Olympic family
There are many Olympians in Ryan Crouser’s family.
His uncle, Brian Crouser, was an Olympian in 1992 and 1998 and competed in the javelin. Ryan’s cousins Sam and Haley also participated in the 2016 Javelin Games.
“There’s zero pressure on kids to do it,” Brian Krause told News Channel 21.
“There are tools everywhere, they are interested, but no one pushes them – they want to do it. From a very young age, they work hard.”

The family’s elite throwing abilities don’t stop there.
Ryan’s father, Mitch Crouser, was an alternate for the 1984 Olympic discus team.
Mitch Crouser also happens to be Ryan’s coach, having been the coach since the newly crowned gold medalist was a kid.
Ryan’s father sat front row in Tokyo, where he went to congratulate his son immediately after his victory.
