The group stage for the 2021 Intesa Sanpaolo Next Gen ATP Finals in Milan has been confirmed, with a Danish star among the eight young players. Here, we learn more about Holger Vitus Nodskov Rune, including who his coach is.
Holger Rune, who will make his 21-and-under debut, will join Carlos Alcaraz, Brandon Nakashima and Juan Manuel Cerundolo in Group A.
The Dane will follow in the footsteps of previous Next Generation ATP Finals champions Hyeon Chung, Stefanos Tsitsipas and Jannik Sinner.
The 18-year-old entered this season’s showcase lineup following the exit of Sinner, who was the first replacement for the ATP Finals in Turin.

Rune started a year outside the world’s top 400 in the FedEx ATP Rankings, but after a breakout year, he has risen to a career-high 118.
The teenager made a splash on the biggest stage by beating world No. 1 Novak Djokovic in the opening round of the US Open before losing to the Serb. He qualified in Flushing Meadows for the first time in qualifying for a major.
Rune became the youngest ATP Tour quarter-finalist since the Dove Men+Care Open in Chile in March 2014 in Santiago, reaching the quarterfinals as a qualifier at the age of 17 (Adenosine triphosphate).
The right-hander also reached the quarter-finals at the Moselle Open in Metz, becoming the first Denmark to reach the quarter-finals on the ATP Tour since Kristian Pless in 2006 people(Adenosine triphosphate).

The NextGen star has won three ATP Challenger Tour titles this season at Biella-7, San Marino and Verona.
He will be aiming for fourth when he faces Cem IIkel in the title match of the Challenger event in Bergamo.
Eight people from six different countries will be represented in the Next Gen Finals singles competition, which will take place at Allianz Cloud in Milan from November 9th to 13th.

Holger Rune’s coach is Lars Christensen, who has been a professional tennis coach since 2003. He works with Holger Rune, who have been working together since the young prodigy was 7 years old.
Under Lars’ leadership, Rooney won the Men’s Under-12 Indoor and Outdoor European Championships, the European Under-14 Championships, the French Open and the Junior Masters in 2019 and became No. 1 for the juniors.
Jens Anker Andersen, Sports Manager of the Danish Tennis Federation, Award Christensen receives the 2018 Tennis Coach of the Year award.
Eleven years after they started working together, Rune and Christensen could become one of the best player/coach partners on the ATP Tour.
Under Christensen’s careful guidance, Luen is expected to make more breakthroughs in tennis.
The pair are looking to break new ground in the next-gen finals, which will make them perfectly ready for 2022, starting in Australia.
