Who is Chanoch Nissany? In the first practice session of the 2021 Spanish Grand Prix, his son Roy Nissany replaced George Russell for Williams. That’s why F1 fans may recognize the father of Williams’ reserve driver.
The 2021 Spanish Grand Prix is here, and Valtteri Bottas, Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton are all looking to score top marks.
The first practice session took place on Friday morning, with Bottas leading the race ahead of second-place Verstappen and third-placed Hamilton.
There are some new faces on the track, with Williams Formula 1 test driver Roy Nissany making his debut in 2021.

Roy Nisini to debut for Williams in 2021
Roy Nissany is Williams’ backup driver making his F1 debut this year.
Nissany linked up with Williams in late 2019 and was named as its test driver in early 2020.
The Israeli racer is currently racing in Formula 2 with DAMS and has previously had three practice sessions with Williams.
He also appeared in the corresponding segment of last year’s Spanish Grand Prix.
This weekend, Nissany replaced Willian’s George Russell at the Barcelona-Catalunya circuit in FP1.
He finished 17th ahead of Mick Schumacher in his first practice session on Friday.
However, he was still half a second behind his teammate Nicolas Latifi in 16th.

Roy’s father, Chanoch Nissany, was also an Israeli racing driver and was the first Israeli to participate in F1.
according to F1 fansChanoch only started racing in 2002, at the age of 38, in the Hungarian F2000.
After three F3000 races in 2004, Nissany’s personal sponsor, UPEX, gave him a one-time drive for a free practice session in Hungary.

Chanoch Nissany ended up participating in free practice at the 2005 Minardi Hungarian Grand Prix. Unfortunately, he was 13 seconds behind.
Nissany never again raced in F1, but did take part in another four test days at the Minardi. He did, however, continue his racing career, winning more championships in Hungary.
