Two-time champion returns to Wimbledon with victory
Andy Murray made his first singles appearance at SW19 on Monday 28 June.
Murray limped off center court in a quarterfinal loss to American Sam Querrey in 2017 and has not returned since.
The two-time Wimbledon champion has been plagued by injuries in recent years. At one point, he even considered quitting the game.
However, to keep his grass season running smoothly, Murray recently returned to singles at Queen’s.
He beat Benoît Paire in the first round but lost to No. 1 seed Matteo Berrettini in the second.
Making his Wimbledon debut in four years, the three-time Grand Slam champion defeated No. 24 seed Brazil Rashvili 6-4 6-3 5-7 6-3.
The standout Murray went one step further on Wednesday, June 30, beating German qualifier Oscar Otter in a five-set second-round thriller.
A game break closing the roof of Wimbledon Centre Court in the face of a two-set loss appeared to push Murray, who literally roared in front of a partisan crowd won 6-4, 4-6, 4-6, 6-4, 6-2.
