In the penultimate episode of the penultimate episode, Kevin, played by Justin Hartley, and Madison, played by Caitlin Thompson, parted ways over the weekend to celebrate with stags and hens coming wedding.
Kevin deletes ex Sophie (Alexandra Breckenridge)’s new cell phone number because of a sudden call from her at the start of the episode. His feelings for her are mixed, and he seems to doubt whether it is the right thing to marry Madison.
At one point, we see Kevin reread an old mission statement he wrote for Sophie. That’s what our executive producer Isaac Aptaker, who co-wrote the episode, explained the implications: “It absolutely baffles him. Sophie is with him Someone who grew up together. She’s this very traditional lifelong childhood love, and he thinks he’s going to be together forever. So whenever she’s involved, it’s really, really complicated for Kevin.”
Who is Amanda Leighton in This Is Us?
This in-depth knowledge of Kevin’s past life sets the stage for Amanda Leighton’s portrayal of the young Sophie.
The 27-year-old actress from Fresno, California is credited with starring in the 2016 Cartoon Network animated series Powerpuff Girls and Poppy in the 2018 Netflix animated series Trolls: The Beat Goes On! and Polly in the 2019 Disney Channel animated series Amphibians.
She is also known for her recurring role as Emma in the Freeform drama series The Fosters.
In December, she married professional mixed martial artist Sage Northcutt.
Leighton took her first lesson Worked at Dirt Road Productions at Alan Autry at age 10. After moving to Los Angeles, she landed roles in Six Feet Below (as the singing cactus), Criminal Minds, 90210, House, Grey’s Anatomy, and Make It or Break It. She has also appeared in national commercials for Plavix, Comcast and Meow Mix.

There’s a lot to be said about Kevin’s stance on the odds. Some are Sophie and some are Madison.

I don’t know how these two ended up, but I just want to say that Kevin saw Sophie’s future, but still didn’t see Madison’s. Maybe they were playing with us, but the relationship felt forced and Kevin didn’t seem to love her.

Another admitted that Kevin doesn’t seem to be fully focused on his current relationship, saying: “I don’t know how these two will play out, but I just want to say that Kevin sees a future with Sophie and still doesn’t Seeing it with Madison. Maybe they were playing with us, but the relationship felt forced and Kevin didn’t seem to love her.”
On Kevin’s removal of Sophie’s number, executive producer Isaac Aptak Say If “he doesn’t feel anything about Sophie, if not – threat is the wrong word, but if talking to her doesn’t have any appeal, then he doesn’t really feel the need to delete her phone number.”
He added: “If you totally believe in yourself and you don’t have an addictive personality and you’re not worried at all about what it means to reach out to that person, then there’s no point in removing the number. So I think it’s Kevin trying to do it right. Another example of something, but not fully believing in yourself.”
