Which Royal Caribbean cruises are cancelled in 2022?
While many cruise lines and resorts are planning to reopen to tourists, Royal Caribbean recently announced the cancellation of its voyage on the Spectrum of the Seas scheduled to depart Hong Kong on January 6, 2022.
The news comes shortly after Royal Caribbean CEO Richard Fein announced his resignation after 33 years at the company. From 2022, Royal Caribbean has led the company through the COVID-19 pandemic and is now under new management.

Why was the cruise canceled?
Since March 2020, many cruise lines have been unable to operate due to positive cases of COVID-19 affecting the safety of all passengers on board. However, as 2022 rolls around, many cruise lines are ready to set sail again.
However, with the latest Omicron variant spreading so widely and quickly, the risk of passengers contracting the virus onboard has increased again.
The Royal Caribbean Spectrum, which was due to depart on January 6, 2022, was canceled with nine close contacts on board as the ship returned to Hong Kong a day earlier to test 2,500 passengers.
Cruise Lines International told usa today“Together with our members, we are monitoring developments related to omicron variants and are in close contact with local and national authorities where cruise ships sail.”
Which cruises are canceled in 2022?
In addition to the cancellation of Royal Caribbean Spectrum’s current voyage, Voyager of the Seas and Quantum of the Seas will also operate until March and April 2022. However, the cruise line still has more than 15 other ships that will continue to operate they plan to sail in 2022.
Norwegian Cruise Line also had to cancel its Norwegian Getaway from Miami 24 hours before departure. Due to issues related to COVID-19, the ship, which was scheduled to sail on January 5, 2022, has been cancelled, but Norwegian Cruise Line has not announced the exact reason for its last-minute suspension.

What to do if your cruise is cancelled
To accommodate last-minute cancellations, many cruise lines are offering customers more options than usual to help them revise vacation plans or rebook future itineraries.
Royal Caribbean They have updated their policy in light of COVID-19 and now offer customers who have experienced cancellations credit for future cruises, full refunds or flight and hotel purchases. However, they also advise customers that refunds can take up to 45 days to process due to the large number of refunds and credits already requested.
P&O Cruises They’ve also adjusted their policy and currently any cruise bookings up to March 2022 can be rescheduled to the date your vacation balance expires through their “Free Flexible Transfer Policy”.
