Lewis Hamilton is the first driver to achieve 100 wins
Hamilton has held on to 99 wins since the British Grand Prix in July.
He started the Russian Grand Prix at the fourth round in Sochi after the final leg of qualifying on Saturday.
With the lights out, Hamilton was mired in midfield, trapped behind Daniel Ricciardo’s McLaren.
Mercedes opted for long-distance running, extending the one-stop strategy.
Ricciardo’s slow stop allowed Hamilton to pass the Australian before starting to close in on net race leader Lando Norris.
Hamilton followed Norris, steadily reducing the distance until he was within DRS range and the rain stopped.
When Norris hesitated to install the middle tire, Hamilton pitted for a change.
It got worse, allowing Hamilton to take a lot of time off Norris, who couldn’t keep McLaren on track.
Hamilton would pass and go on to win, ahead of title rival Max Verstappen.
The Briton became the first driver to record a triple-digit F1 victory and regained the points lead by two points.
While Hamilton has now won 100 races and has won more races than anyone else, there are races he hasn’t played in and there are races he will never win.

F1 race Hamilton could win in the future
In F1’s 285 races, Hamilton has participated in 35 different grands prix. He won 29 of them.
That leaves the seven-time champion winless in six games.
The first is the European Grand Prix.
The moniker is rarely used, but it was a mainstay of Hamilton’s debut calendar from 2007 to 2012.
His most memorable moments at the European Grand Prix were at the Nürburgring in 2007 and Valencia in ’12.
In the former, he crashed badly after a tire failure in qualifying, resulting in him missing the podium for the first time in the series.
At Valencia, on the final lap, Pastor Maldonado hit Hamilton on the final lap, sending the McLaren into the barrier.

The last European Grand Prix was held in Baku in 2016.
Hamilton struggled with engine settings throughout the race and ended up fifth.
It’s not unthinkable that the European Grand Prix could be back on the schedule, so Hamilton could still win in that event.
The same goes for the Dutch Grand Prix.
Hamilton had raced the Dutch Grand Prix at Zandvoort a few weeks ago. He finished second behind Verstappen.
While Hamilton has two victories in the Mexican Grand Prix at track Hermanos Rodriguez, here’s one race he hasn’t won.
In 2021, it was renamed the Mexico City Grand Prix – with Hamilton finishing second.
As you can imagine, he might win this game in the future.

Lewis Hamilton’s two races could add 100 wins – if they return
The Korean Grand Prix and the Indian Grand Prix mark two events that Hamilton has never won in his brief spot on the schedule.
South Koreans joined in 2010 and India joined a year later. By 2014, both had disappeared.
Hamilton did take pole at the 2011 Korean Grand Prix, but lost to Sebastian Vettel.
Second is his best result in Korea.

As for India, the only way to win there is if your name is Vettel and you have Red Bull.
The German failed to lead just 28 laps in F1’s three visits to the Buddha circuit before pulling out due to tax issues with the national government.
An F1 race that Hamilton will never win
In response to the pandemic and canceled races in 2020, Silverstone hosted two F1 races that year.
The second, after the British Grand Prix, is officially known as the 70th Anniversary Grand Prix.
Since its inception in 1950, the World Championships celebrates its 70th anniversary.
Hamilton finished second behind Verstappen after a day when Mercedes’ tires struggled.

Races never come back on the calendar.
Hamilton doesn’t win on track
Hamilton has a record eight wins each at the Hungaroring and Silverstone.
Of the 35 circuits he has raced in F1, he has 30 wins and Qatar is the latest to bring him to 102 Grand Prix victories.
As mentioned above, the four matches he has never won include South Korea’s Yeognam and India’s Buddha.
While hosting the European Grand Prix, he failed to win at the Valencia Street circuit, and at Zandvoort, his only Dutch Grand Prix start to date.
There is only one track that Hamilton has never won.
In Hamilton’s first two seasons in F1, the French Grand Prix was held at Manicus.
He finished third in 2007, only to finish 10th in a tight race a year later.
He will go on to win the French Grand Prix when it returns to the schedule in 2018 and 2019.
