What happened to NASCAR Bristol?
Bristol’s temper flared Saturday night in NASCAR Cup race, overshadowed by Kevin Harvick vs. Chase Elliott in the pit lane . What happened between the two, and what was said afterward?
What led to the debate between Kevin Harvick and Chase Elliott in NASCAR Bristol?
Elliott’s No. 9 Chevrolet Camaro fought back from the back of the field to take the lead in Bristol on a speeding penalty.
Deep in the third stage, Harvick came behind the leader and tried to pass his No. 4 Ford Mustang.
He managed to slip past Elliott, but made contact as he did so.
Elliott was pushed against the wall and pitted a short time later with a flat tire.
After the pit stop, Elliott rejoined the track and slammed into Harvick’s car sharply as he passed.
Elliott sat there for the rest of the race – just ahead of leader Harvick.
Elliott’s defensive work at the back allowed his Hendrick teammate Kyle Larson to close the gap on Harvick.
Only three laps into the 500, Larson passed Harvick for his sixth win of the season.
Harvick was second and Elliott finished 25th – three laps behind.
After both cars were back in the pits, Harvick stopped behind Elliott and the two met in the pits.
As they tried to resolve their differences, there was no physical violence other than a strange shoving.
The two later got into Elliott’s transporter and continued the discussion privately.
What does Harvick think about the NASCAR Bristol affair?
“I just told him he ended up doing a sodomy move in there,” Harvick explained on the maintenance road.
“We won three points against Bristol and he lost his temper.
“I just wanted to try to get him ahead and he walked up to me and just sat there until I lost the whole lead.
“To be able to lose a game, I watched him let #24 [William Byron also of Hendrick] In the past, any time you met him (Elliott) was a problem. “
Harvick also said he was ready to “rip someone’s head off” after he lost his first cup title since the 2020 Bristol Night Race – now 36 games ago.

What about Elliott?
For his part, Elliott was unapologetic about stopping Harvick after the incident.
“It’s what he’s been doing.
“He hits your left a lot on other tracks and sometimes it does cut off your left. [tyre]other times not.
“He did it at Darlington a few weeks ago because he was tired of playing with me.
“Whether he did it on purpose or not, it doesn’t matter, at some point you have to draw the line
“I don’t care who he is or how long he’s been there, I’ll stand up for myself and my team
“I just finished my line and couldn’t be happier for Kyle [Larson]
“He’s had a great year and he deserves all the success.”
Will the Harvick vs Elliott incident affect the playoffs?
Fortunately for both drivers, their incidents did not dampen their hopes of making it to the next round of the playoffs.
Elliott and Harvick have both advanced to the top 12.
Harvick did so at the end of the second period, and Elliott only needed to finish 34th.
This was secured early in the final stage, when another car pulled out, meaning car No. 9 would have finished at least 34th.
