What happened to Cartoon Network? A viral tweet from April 2021 has Cartoon Network fans reminiscing about their old shows.
Cartoon Network (CN) is home to many children’s classics such as Powerpuff Girls, Ed, Eddie Eddieand recent hits such as adventure time.
Although they held their ground throughout the 2000s, older shows still cling to the hearts of CN fans.
About Cartoon Network
Cartoon Network was founded on October 1, 1992. The network is owned by Warner Bros. Entertainment’s Kids, Teens and Classics division.
Some of the network’s famous series originated in the nineties.These include Dexter’s lab, Johnny Bravoand Powerpuff Girls.
both Ed, Ed and Eddie and Cowardly Puppy Hero were created in 1999, although they were popular in the early 2000s. All of these shows led to what is known as the “Golden Age of Cartoon Network” between 1996 and 2004.
Cartoon Network Revival
After the early 2000s, the channel went through a period known as the “dark ages‘. This situation continued from around 2004 to around 2010. It comes on the heels of the aforementioned “Golden Age of Cartoon Network.”
But the dark ages didn’t last long, as in 2010, adventure time and regular program (actually premiered in 2009), heralding a change in tune.
Pretty soon, we’re entering a Cartoon Network revival.programs such as The wonderful world of chewing gum (2011), steven universe (2013), and over the garden wall (2014) marked this new era of popularity.But again, the network seems to have experienced a downturn.
Fans ask “What’s wrong with Cartoon Network?”
Cartoon Network fans have been reminiscing about the channel’s old shows and comparing them to current CN productions. a twitter user Said it was because the “Renaissance era was over”.

Now, Cartoon Network’s ratings have dropped significantly. According to reports, CN down -29% With the rise of YouTube Kids content.
This isn’t unique to Cartoon Network, as Disney Channel’s ratings are down 33 percent and Nickelodeon’s ratings are down 32 percent.
The exact reason for this change is unclear. As fans suggested above, it may depend on content changes. Or, it could be a result of the growing popularity of YouTube and other streaming sites.
