Tottenham fans have taken to Twitter to respond to Chelsea defender Antonio Rudiger’s claims that Jose Mourinho was trying to sign him to Tottenham.
Rudiger explained at a press conference Hite TV Mourinho may have been linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge during last summer’s transfer window.
Here’s how some Spurs fans reacted on Twitter to the idea of snatching a player from their London rivals:
Will be our best CB but glad we didn’t get him, he seems like a very controversial member in the locker room

Everyone is afraid to say it, but he’ll be better than our three CBs

Rudiger has confirmed a move to Tottenham is possible. What a shame, I think we’d be in the top four with him by our side. But it’s not surprising that Chelsea don’t want to do business with us https://t.co/RF1EZj005G

step out the door
The Germany international has explained that he is on the verge of leaving Chelsea after being frozen by Frank Lampard at the start of the season.
As well as Mourinho’s approach, Rudiger said he was also considering a move to Paris Saint-Germain, where current Blues boss Thomas Tuchel is in charge.
A move to Spurs will end the centre-back’s four-year stint in south-west London after a £29m deal (BBC Sport) from Roma in 2017.
Rudiger returns
But Rudiger stayed at Chelsea and is now reaping the rewards.
Tuchel reinstated the 28-year-old Blues defender immediately after taking over from Lampard in January.
It turned out to be a shrewd decision by the manager, who is unbeaten in 12 games at his new club.
In these dozen games, Chelsea have kept ten clean sheets and Rudiger has been involved in nine.

Spurs look wobbly at the back
Such a running and defensive record is something Spurs fans can only dream of right now.
They quickly snapped a five-game winning streak with a derby defeat to Arsenal in north London on Sunday.
But before that mini-purple patch, Tottenham had lost four of their six games, including a 1-0 home defeat to Tuchel’s Chelsea.
Mourinho may have been cursing “what could happen” after watching Rudiger perform for the winning team that afternoon.
His current set of centre-backs have failed to perform in a similar fashion.
Toby Alderweireld looked beyond his best, Joe Rodon was rarely sniffed, and Davinson Sanchez and Eric Dier were consistently inconsistent.
The ship appears to have brought Rudiger in for Mourinho, who is now riding the wave of Tuchel’s impressive tenure.
