• Raj has been under constant attack from the opposition Congress party for helping former Indian Premier League administrator Lalit Modi. One of the two charges was that she helped him fly out of India on condition of anonymity. A copy of the affidavit released by Congress reads: “I make this statement in support of any immigration application made by Lalit Modi, but on the strict condition that Indian authorities will not be aware of my assistance.” The flip side of the allegation is that , between 2008 and 2010, Lalit Modi through his company Ananda Heritage Hotels Pvt Ltd (AHHPL). Through his company Ananda Heritage Hotels Pvt Ltd (AHHPL) invested Rs 13 crore in Raje’s son Dushyant Singh’s company Niyant Heritage Hotels Pvt Ltd (NHHPL). Despite transferring 965 shares to AHHPL at Rs 96,000 per share, Dushyant said in his income tax return that his shares in the same company were worth only Rs 10 per share. Singh’s company has also taken an unsecured loan of Rs 380 crore from Modi’s AHHPL.
• There have been many question marks over the intentions of Vasundhara Raje and the BJP who, after becoming Rajasthan Chief Minister, justified the award of a mining lease in the Aravalli Hill part of Rajasthan to a company with close ties to Congress. The BJP has charged Ashok Gehlot’s government with a Rs 3.4 crore scam. This has raised concerns about the seriousness of corruption in the BJP and has plunged the CM into controversy.
