- Unmukt, who started playing cricket at the age of 6, said his family and uncle started seriously considering him a career when he was 10.
- With exceptional academic ability, excellent written test scores and swimming skills, he was in Year 9 when he transferred from Derry Public School to Modern School.
- He has won two awards namely; Castrol Junior Cricketer of the Year 2011-12 and CEAT India Junior of the Year 2012.
- Chand became the youngest player in the IPL when Derry Daredevil signed him for the tournament in 2012.
- Unmukt likes to read dictionaries and write a diary every day.He also published a book The sky is the limit – My World Cup Journey (2013). The book tells the story of his early life, how he became a cricketer, how he represented his country, how he led the team and brought home the coveted trophy. The victory was the first World Cup victory for an Indian U-19 team outside of Asia.

- After announcing his retirement from all forms of international cricket, he signed a deal with the Silicon Valley Strikers for the 2021 Minor League Cricket (MLC) season. On August 14, 2021, he made his debut for the forwards against the Socal Lashings at the Morgan Hill Outdoor Stadium in the Toyota Minor League Cricket Championship when he was out on the three-ball duck.
