Three players to prove at international level, including £4m Tottenham and 29-year-old Everton
Some Premier League players will be able to stand up for a few weeks and deserve it – but for many, there is no time to rest.
Over the next two weeks, there will be a series of World Cup qualifiers and friendlies that will showcase some of the world’s best talent.
As well as getting off to a good start for World Cup qualifiers, managers such as England’s Gareth Southgate will also be watching Summer European Cup.
Here are three Premier League players we think their national teams need to prove.
Eric Dier – Tottenham and England
Every England team announcement draws a crowd of angry fans who disapprove of the manager’s choice.

Most of the time, arguments involve who is not included. However, in the most recent England squad, Eric Dier’s tolerate This is the main point of contention.
Southgate is a big fan of the Tottenham defender, but will his admirable loyalty turn into blind stubbornness?
Everton fans have been particularly vocal about giving up their centre-back duo Ben Godfrey and Michael Keane at the expense of Dier.
Taking into account £4 million (BBC Sport) The Spurs have been signed for nearly a month without playing in the league.
While England fans will be delighted to see Manchester City centre-back John Stones return to the England squad, critics will be sharpening their knives while watching Dier.
As his memory of the 2018 World Cup penalty hero faded, Dier needed a near-perfect performance to shake off the criticism.
Ollie Watkins – Aston Villa and England
Ollie Watkins has been given the opportunity to make a statement for the Three Lions, but unlike Dier, he can do it without a heavy burden on his shoulders.

Watkins has scored 12 goals for Villa this season, 10 of them in the league.
Only Harry Kane, Jamie Vardy, Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Patrick Bamford have scored higher than Villa’s No. 11 this season as Englishmen.
Southgate picked Bamford and Watkins on direct penalties, who got the nod this time.
Watkins must now prove Southgate right about his inclusion of Bamford by showing at the national level.
Games against San Marino and Albania should give him a chance to prove he can take his shooting boots to the international stage.
Joshua King – Everton and Norway
From an in-form striker to a player struggling to jump from the Championship back to the top flight.
Joshua King has barely made waves since joining Everton on loan from Bournemouth in January.
In fact, he barely touched the furniture. The Norway international has yet to start for Carlo Ancelotti, and his eight appearances have come as a substitute.
Granted, trying to replace Calvert Lewin and Richarlison will not be easy for anyone in English football.
But King didn’t score or make any major impact during his cameo appearance.
Norway takes over Turkey and Montenegro In next week’s World Cup qualifying group, but a qualifier against the Gibraltar Minnows will have the Kings salivating.
That game gave King a chance to fill his boots and regain his confidence ahead of the Turks and Montenegrins.
Everton fans will surely hope King returns to Goodison Park with renewed confidence.
