Liverpool’s Reece Williams made his Premier League debut against Tottenham last night.
Jurgen Klopp has put his trust in the young centre-forward in his biggest game of the season so far.

“Oh my god – fantastic,” Klopp said of Williams after the game. “Excellent, you can imagine it’s like he’s playing against Alan Shearer now.
“Harry Kane, he’s smart and comes down at the right time. In the second half they just played long balls – they actually avoided Reece. They put long balls on Fabinho and then Harry on There.
“So we had to fight for the second ball because Rees was very strong in the air. He also passed the ball before our first goal.
“He had a lot of confidence. Super challenge, interception, he didn’t fall too early. I have to say, it’s absolutely unbelievable.”

What a great night for Williams. He clearly has confidence in his manager, he played in a good game.
Playing in this Liverpool team requires your defensive positioning or you risk being held behind the high line – and he did.
It’s no surprise that Klopp is so keen to praise him, it’s interesting to hear him say that Mourinho’s side are not trying to exploit him in the air.
It’s a hallmark of his aerial prowess. He will also gain a great deal of confidence from last night.
