The real reason Gwi-nam wasn’t infected
We saw that Yin Guinan started transforming into a hambie in episode 5 of the show, which means she wasn’t infected with the virus. So the real reason Gwi-nam didn’t get infected is because she’s a hambie.
Jonas Virus’s lead scientist and creator, Byung-chan Lee, explains why some people are immune to the effects of the virus and become “Hambi”.
Hambies are created when Jonas virus fuses with human antibodies, Byeong-chan said in a video. This causes the virus to mutate.
When someone turns into a hambie, they will have the physical strength of a zombie, but their human conscience remains.
This is all of us dead and who else is hambie
Choi Nam-ra began to mutate into Hanbi after being bitten by Yin Guinan, and her transformation is shown in the finale. Another hambie you might find in the series is Min Eun-ji.
Most people die from the virus, and once you’ve completely turned into a zombie, there’s definitely no going back. Since the virus is mixed with antibodies, others will only partially mutate and then become hambies.
Exploring why viruses arise
The virus was never intended to cause so many deaths, and this outbreak was initially created out of pure intent.
It was originally created by a father when his son tried to kill himself after being bullied at school. The scientist behind the virus, Lee Byeong-chan, explained what hambies are and what he wants the virus to do. He said he created the substance to give his son supernatural powers to fight back against bullies.
However, the experiment went awry, turning Bingchan’s son into a zombie, causing an outbreak and claiming the lives of many students.
