The Mad Hatter Could Be Barry Keohan’s Secret Batman Character

Disney fans out there should be familiar with the Mad Hatter. Yes, the little guy in the top hat from Alice in Wonderland. It’s a classic character in a classic children’s book, but one whose influence is far greater than some might imagine. example? Well, if you’re a big Batman fan, you know he has the best roguelike gallery of all comic book heroes. Considering his long list of villains ranges from downright scary to downright crazy, it’s not hard to see why. Now, if you’re a regular Batman fan, you know his OG villain. Joker, Riddler, Two-Face, Penguin, Catwoman, Mr. Frozen, Bane, Poison Ivy, to name a few. However, he has more villains and they are not as popular as you see in the movies. These villains are only known to fans who have read a lot of Batman comics. Heck, you probably saw them in the animated Batman series and forgot about them now. Understandably, since these villains are nowhere near as popular as Batman’s most popular foes. I hope that will change in the next few years, but I have a feeling that certain villains will make an appearance in the live-action version.
Speaking of Batman, all of you DC lunatics have probably seen the new trailer for Matt Reeves’ Batman at DC Fandome. If you haven’t, then you’re seriously missing out. I get a lot of resonance from the Arkham game and the Telltale Batman game. Those are great, and it looks like Batman will blend the vibes of both games. Robert Pattinson looks great, as does Zoe Kravitz as Catwoman. We’re getting Batman in March, so don’t worry, it’s not too far off. Now that we’re on the subject of Batman, I thought we should touch on some interesting rumors surrounding one of the actors. Irish actor Barry Keoghan, who recently played the mind-controlling Druig in The Eternals, signed on to play Gotham City cop Stanley Merkel, one of James Gordon’s first partners. It’s just a minor supporting role for Keoghan, but according to some leaks, he’ll be playing a more familiar Batman character. Careful guess who it is? Oh, just his archenemy, the criminal clown himself, the clown.
Wow, now things get interesting. Batman should already have several big villains, so why include the Joker? Personally, I don’t think his presence is necessary, but then again, I’m always frustrated by seeing another version of the psychotic clown. But honestly, I really don’t believe these so-called leaks are real. Now, if they do have some truth about them, then I have my theory. If Barry Keoghan is playing another villain, then I think the Mad Hatter is a better fit for him. Like a leak right now, this is pure speculation. I’m not saying it will happen, but I do believe that Barry Keohan is a perfect fit for this underrated Batman villain. Before I explain why, I thought I should explain why The Mad Hatter is underrated. First, let’s rule out the reason for his name. Yes, he’s called that because he named himself after the same character from the children’s book Alice in Wonderland. This is a very small grown man with a dangerous obsession with the Mad Hatter character in children’s books. You might be wondering how such a character could be a comic book character, let alone a Batman villain. Well, here’s a little bit. He’s Batman’s villain, and Batman’s villain is, for the most part, completely crazy, very, very weird. With that in mind, it’s not hard to believe that a character called the Mad Hatter could be Batman’s villain, is it?
His real name is Jervis Tetch, a neuroscientist who invented mind control technology and used it to manipulate the minds of others. His first victim was a young girl similar to Alice herself. Yes, he’s pretty creepy, and he’s only gotten creepier over the years. A comic book villain uses mind control on children and asks them to join him in a tea party, and it’s downright creepy. Maybe that’s why he hasn’t appeared in the movie yet. In fact, the Mad Hatter has made his debut in two Batman shows, the first being The Adam West Show and the second being the Gotham series. Now I haven’t seen Gotham, and I haven’t seen an Adam West show in a while. I really don’t think these versions are very faithful to the Mad Hatter, because I believe he should do well. In fact, a creepy villain like him should fit nicely into Batman’s dark tone. Yes, Barry Keoghan is the right actor to play him.
This guy just has the look for a villain. He may have played a hero in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but he could certainly play a DC villain. Not only is Barry Keoghan good-looking, but he’s shorter, which is a must for the Mad Hatter. For his performance, he has to get rid of the creepiest villains that separate him from the rest. Now again, this is just my fan speculation as I want the Mad Hatter to debut in the movie. He might play another Joker, I really don’t think that’s likely. However, if there is some truth behind these leaks, then I think it was a mistake to have Barry Keoghan play the Joker. Batman fans, what do you think? I think we should all accept the inevitability that he might just play Stein Merkel. If not, then you never know, surprises do happen.
