The Kissing Booth Trilogy

Bad Netflix originals are not uncommon at this point. However, sometimes it’s a headache when a series is popular with mass audiences, and here it is kissing booth Come in. Of course, the first film was based on a young adult novel by author Beth Reekles, so I understand the fanbase behind the film; however, kissing booth A terrifying trilogy. The Netflix exclusive centers on Elle, a high school student who deals with life, love, and the kissing station that sparks a whirlwind romance. A big disclaimer, this type of movie is not my cup of tea.I understand that I am not the target group kissing booth; However, I can identify a good movie. Maybe I don’t get the appeal of movies glorifying toxic relationships because Noah and Ellie shouldn’t be together. Noah is a controlling, feminine bastard who desperately needs some counseling. Oh, Elle is by no means a better character. One of the worst things about her is that she is very hypocritical. In the second movie, Ellie is very angry when she sees another woman in Noah’s dorm. Granted, the film is playing Noah’s feminine history to question his loyalty. However, the problem comes in the form of Marco, who is essentially the perfect guy throughout the series. He’s tall and handsome, and he can wear Wario clothes! Of course, there’s a developing romance between Elle and Marco, which also sees the titular character kiss the lover boy at one point. It’s all in the same movie. Elle comes across as a delusional girl who has no self-awareness of most situations around her. She often resents Noah because of her past, but she doesn’t seem to realize that she’s not getting better while leading Marco. However, she’s not actually the worst character in the movie. That was her best friend, Li Flynn.
Strangely enough, these two best friends came up with a strict set of rules they had to follow at a very young age. Whenever Elle breaks one of the rules, Lee turns into a restless kid and complains that Elle isn’t a good friend. In the first film, when Lee finds out that Elle is interested in her cousin Noah, he lashes out. In the second movie, he keeps whining and complaining about Elle not spending time with him, even though he’s purposely ignoring his girlfriend! In the third, he blamed Elle and felt guilty for her trying to apply to USC. In fact, when he found out that she had applied to several different colleges, he was furious with her. Lee is actually worse than Noah. In a sad way, you can see why she likes Noah and his toxic behavior because her best friend is a selfish bastard. These “rules” they made at the age of six were pretty stupid. Unfortunately, Elle never pointed this out, nor did she get mad at Lee’s constant tantrums. kissing booth Often feel disoriented, which is probably why they came up with the silly conflict between Elle and Lee. No best friend would do what Elle did in the series. In fact, a man with a real backbone would have called him out for his whining crap a long time ago. The series is classified as a romantic comedy, but that feels like a real insult to the genre itself. It relies on classic genre tropes, but it never says anything new or interesting. Plus, the series doesn’t even know how to properly use the classic type trope!
Sequels are worse because they end up feeling pointless. Marco is obviously the right person for Elle, but she’s going to be around such a toxic character, which makes her character look worse than it is now. The second part feels like it exists purely for the money. The writers didn’t know how to instigate a meaningful conflict in particular, so the movie was a mess. Elle does have the right to be angry about the Chloe and Noah situation, because the movie is so damned trying to trick you into believing that Noah is back in his old ways and their friendship seems to be sexual. As I mentioned before, Elle ends up being a hypocrite because she’s flirting with Marco. Part three wraps up the series, which gives it some meaning; however, the fact that the main conflict is whether Eller goes to Berkeley or Harvard is pretty bland. Lee and Noah are still bad characters at this point, so we don’t expect Elle to go either of them; however, Elle is still very flat and passive. The decisions she makes are based on what other people are doing. Heck, Elle didn’t really want to make gaming her career until the end of the movie. kissing booth is the definition of cash grab. These movies are terrible, with terrible characters, ridiculous plots, and bland scripts.
